Join us at the Freedom Drive 2026
NO MORE EXCUSES - OUR TIME IS NOW!
The ENIL Freedom Drive is one of the key campaigns of the European Network on IndependentLiving (ENIL).
This year, it will be the 12th edition of the Freedom Drive, which started in 2003 in Strasbourg, at the initiative of the late Martin Naughton from Ireland. Our slogan for the Freedom Drive 2026 is NO MORE EXCUSES - OUR TIME IS NOW!
We expect up to 300 disabled people and allies to gather together in Brussels, Belgium, for the loudest disability rights event on the European calendar. We invite all our members, Independent Living activists, allies, supporters and anyone who is interested in the right to live independently and being included in the community to join us. Let’s be strong, proud and visible together!
Why do we need the Freedom Drive?
DELIVER DEMANDS
To deliver the Freedom Drive demands to the European Parliament and the European Commission, focusing on what is needed to improve implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
RAISE AWARENESS
To raise awareness about the barriers and threats to the right to Independent Living.
MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD
To provide disabled people with an opportunity to meet with their Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and other policy and decision makers, in order to make their voices heard.
CONNECT & LEARN
To exchange ideas, good practices and strategies among each other, to network and forge new connections, partnerships and friendships.
